Abstract:
An approach is provided for evaluating a performance of a query. A risk of selecting a low performance access path for a query is determined. The risk is determined to exceed a risk threshold. Based on the risk exceeding the risk threshold and using a machine learning optimizer, first costs of access paths for the query are determined. Using a cost-based database optimizer, second costs of the access paths are determined. Using a strong classifier operating on the first costs and the second costs, a final access path for the query is selected from the access paths.

Abstract:
A semiconductor structure, such as a microchip that includes a finFET, includes fins that have a 2D material, such as Graphene, upon at least the fin sidewalls. The thickness of the 2D material sidewall may be tuned to achieve desired finFET band gap control. Neighboring fins of the semiconductor structure form fin wells. The semiconductor structure may include a fin cap upon each fin and the 2D material is formed upon the sidewalls of the fin and the bottom surface of the fin wells. The semiconductor structure may include a well-plug at the bottom of the fin wells and the 2D material is formed upon the sidewalls and upper surface of the fins. The semiconductor structure may include both fin caps and well-plugs such that the 2D material is formed upon the sidewalls of the fins.

Abstract:
Using an imaging device of a user device associated with a public user, an image of an autonomous vehicle (AV) operating in an area is captured. The public user associated with the user device is other than an occupant or controller of the AV. Image processing of the image is performed to extract a set of visual characteristics of the AV. A visual characteristic in the set of visual characteristics is insufficient to uniquely identify the AV. From a set of AVs a subset of candidate AVs is selected where each candidate AV in the subset of candidate AVs matches within a tolerance at least one visual characteristic in the set of visual characteristics, the subset of candidate AVs including the AV. A stop command is sent to the AV, causing the AV to execute a stopping operation resulting in a change in a velocity of the AV.
