A virtual reality system is provided. The virtual reality system includes a host device, a transmission cable, and a head mounted display apparatus worn by a user and coupled to the host device via the transmission cable. The head mounted display apparatus includes a multimedia module, a multi-sensing module, and a peripheral hub. The multimedia module receives multimedia content from the host device via the transmission cable, and displays a video part of the multimedia content. The multi-sensing module obtains sensing information regarding the head mounted display apparatus, the user and an obstruction. The peripheral hub provides the sensing information to the host device via the transmission cable. At least one virtual object of the video part of the multimedia content is adjusted in response to the sensing information.

A system and method for providing a user interface for accessing multimedia items using an electronic device determines a set of first level categories based on multimedia items associated with the electronic device. The system determines second level category graphics and first level category graphics corresponding to the set of first level categories. The first level category graphics are generated based on one or more of the second level category graphics associated with the first level category. The system then displays a first view that comprises some or all of the first level category graphics. In response to a user input selecting a particular first level category graphic, the system shows a second view that simultaneously displays first level category graphics and second level category graphics associated with the selected first level category. In response to a user input selecting a second level category, the system then displays information relating to a multimedia item associated with the selected second level category.

A system for handling multi-touch input on a computing device enables the device to handle multi-touch input where each touch input is provided to a separate application executing on the device. In response to a first touch input, a first application generates and registers a first connection point with a link component. Similarly, a second application generates and registers a second connection point in response to a second touch input. The link component then provides the second connection point to the first application and notifies the first application that it should complete a communication connection with the second application. The two applications then exchange information to determine a coordinator application that will execute first in response to the input. The information exchange may include a handshake process in which each application may request or provide information and notify the other application that it will or will not execute an operation. After the coordinator is selected, the selected application executes an operation.
